The Scary Day

Halloween is here. The scary festival needs us to post a new blog about it. Nope. Anyways, here is a post for good measure.

Halloween is when children dressed in costumes knock on people’s doors. They say the famous phrase,’Trick or treat’. You better give them candy before they trick you.

Alright now for the history. The festival originated from modern day Ireland. This was about 2000 years ago. They used to celebrate New Year on November First, now known as All Saints Day.

It is believed that boundaries between our realm and the realm of the dead would break and they would invade.  The term ‘Halloween’ literally means Hollow eve or Holy night.

The celtish even started some traditions which we still follow till this day, They would dress up as ghosts because it was believed that it will chase if the bad spirits, to invite the good spirits on the other hand they would carve faces on turnips and decorate it since it was believed that it will invite the good spirits.

Later when Irish immigrants began to immigrate to America they replaced the turnip with the pumpkin which is more popular and a symbol for Halloween today.

Now for the scarily (don’t know if it is a word but anyway...) important opinions that belong to us but can be viewed by all of you.

It is a really good tradition and also fun for the young adults. We just wish it is present in countries like India where Halloween is not a festival.

Also remember, the next time you are trick or treating, you are fighting against the scary beings under the Earth.
