The famous holiday

 It’s day when friends and family come together(in the western world),you run down stairs to be greeted with the two words ‘merry Christmas’ then you peep into the hall to see your magnificent tree decorated and underneath yes ! are your presents.


Christmas or 25th of December is believed to be the day Jesus Christ was born in Nazareth in the land of Judea present day Israel. Though it is believed Jesus was born on this day , historians point out that this was originally a roman festival which the church converted into the day when Christ was born on. Though you may celebrate this holiday we can bet you didn’t know that traditions for this holiday vary region to region.


Sometimes even the dates vary, for example Christmas is a public holiday on January 7 in countries such as Belarus, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Russia, and Ukraine. Some countries, such as Armenia, observe Christmas Day on January 6.



Like the rest of the world, Christmas Day in China is on December 25th each year. However, Christmas traditions in the country are relatively young and it is mainly celebrated as a commercial season instead of a religious day.




Though Christmas has reached almost every part of Earth and is one of the most recognizable holidays , it’s not the only one. For example the Jews celebrate Hanukkah which we may someday write a blog on.

Merry Christmas. Also cool fact the phrase ‘Merry Christmas’ became popular with Charles Dickens novel ‘The Christmas Carol’ which you may have read starting with a wealthy businessman named scrooge and his adventure on Christmas with the three spirits of Christmas.
